I’ve recently made a BIG change in my trading… It just goes to show that even after 25 years of trading, it’s good to keep an open mind. I spent years learning everything possible about trading and the stock market. From company fundamentals and sifting through SEC filings, to complex technical indicators.
Surprise, surprise, my favorite patterns are working morning, noon and night. It would be easy to think every big spiker is worth a trade, right? The question is… Are you prepared to capitalize? And what about all this end-of-summer choppiness?
Earlier this month, I got a call from one of my students, Strati. When I asked how things were going, this is what he said… “It’s been crazy. I’ve had a roller coaster of a summer.” It turns out Strati was in a drawdown and trying to find his way out of it.
A “good” stock is one that aligns with your trading goals and shows strong potential to move based on real, measurable criteria — not hype. In trading, that means understanding price action, spotting catalysts, and knowing how to interpret key data. Success doesn’t come from chasing… It comes from preparation, planning and a process that helps you identify the right setups.
When it comes to after-hours trading, it’s only human nature to look at a stock before the closing bell and think… “This one’s better. This one’s better…” I would rather you have no bias. Here’s a better way to approach after-hours trading…
