Yesterday, we placed a stop-loss on Netflix, and those orders were triggered before the closing bell.
This handed us our first loss of the year, which was inevitable. While we have a nice string of winners, there’s always the occasional loss when trading.
And since we were prudent enough to place the stop, we’re taking a small loss of 16%.
If your order wasn’t triggered for any reason, go ahead and close it at the market today. We’ll no longer be following this trade.
For those of you keeping a tally, we locked in a 50% gain on our Juniper Networks (NYSE: JNPR) April $27 call options yesterday as well. We’re still holding the second half of the calls (currently up 58%) for even greater gains. We’re also doing the same with three other positions — Akamai Technologies (Nasdaq: AKAM), United Rentals (NYSE: URI) and Western Digital (Nasdaq: WDC) — which could hand us significant gains in the coming months.
Looking ahead, there are five earnings announcements that could trigger a new trade for us this week. In fact, we have two that were triggered the other day — Activision Blizzard and The Interpublic Group — but we’ll enter them at a later date.
So keep a close eye on your inbox. We could have a new trade for you any day now.
Until next time, good trading…
