With Florida being the world’s second-largest orange juice producer, after only Brazil, a major supply disruption like a Category 4 hurricane can be devastating to the crop, which is already declining due to citrus greening — a disease that impacts growing the fruit.

That’s why over the past seven days, orange juice prices have jumped nearly 10%, with higher prices expected.
